With more than two years ahead of us before the next national election, we are already in the advanced stage of anecdotal presidential candidates who may be remembered more for their nonsensical utterances than for a single thought on how to improve the Republic. Years from now if somebody mentions the name of an anecdotal president, somebody else is bound to say, "Wasn't he (or she) the person who insisted that you can make lemonade from apples?" (Tee-hee) Among those who quickly come to mind is Newt Gingrich. Newt, who seems to remain obsessed with his need to retire to the Oval Office, was back on Fox saying a couple of curious things that have been logged into the oddball department for future political historians.First, he said President Obama should withdraw his nomination of Elena Kagan for the Supreme Court because she hates the military. To which I would append: "And what was your reason for avoiding military service, Newt?
Secondly, he huffed that Harvard accepted money from the Saudis while she was on the faculty there. Thanks to Sam Stein, of the Huffington Post, for reminding everyone that Gingrich offered this complaint on Fox, whose second highest shareholder in NewsCorp., the parent company, next to owner Rupert Murdoch is Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, a Saudi oil tycoon.
And Newt is laying to the groundwork to run for president!

A) Don't laugh...I fully expect Newt to be the candidate for the GOP in 2012.
B) If A is correct remember these words: "Medicare...its a no brainer...we are going to zero it out. We don't think it would prudent to do it all it once but we think we can make substantial cuts in the first year".
That was Newts promise when he became Speaker of the House.....this is where Tea Bagging meets reality...
I have to agree with Gingrich. It is unconscionable that universities such as Harvard want to ban military recruiters from their campuses. Just more proof of how out of touch the far left is from the values of everyday Americans.
As for Gingrich's presidential aspirations, I think he is probably the best of a subpar group of GOP candidates. While it will be extremely difficult to defeat Obama, at least Gingrich can articulate conservative ideas far better than George W. Bush or John McCain ever could. I don't think President Obama would stand a chance against Gingrich in the debates.
What is unconscionable is that Gingrich,facing those same military recruiters found a way to avoid the draft during Viet Nam. Perhaps his outrage with Harvard is nothing more than guilt ridden transference. Perhaps he had other priorities...sorry that was Dick Cheney...but I am sure Newt had his reasons. Hence the term Chicken Hawk.
Wasn't it pointed out that during Gingrich's time as a Congressman, his district got more Federal funds than any other district in the country? This is the guy who served his wife divorce papers while she was recovering in the hospital from cancer surgery.
Now that's articulating conservative values, and why Gingrich will never debate anyone...
