The R's and D's of Arizona immigration law

POLITiCAL AFFILIATION continues to drive a broadening wedge in America. Exhibit No. 1 is from a poll by the Arizona Republic on the eve of the activation of the controversial new immigration law in that state. The figures: 88 pct. of registered Republican voters support the law; Democrats, 30 pct. According to the Phoenix newspaper,
"Nearly half of those polled believe the law has made Latinos more likely to be discriminated against andthat the debate has exposed a deeper sense of racism here. A smaller number 36 pct., reject those ideas."...[The poll] suggested that the voters' views "depend heavily on political affiliation, age, income, gender and ethnicity."
In other news from the Grand Canyon State, Gov.Jan Brewer has triggered the closing of half of the state's parks in the wake of Arizona's critical economic troubles.

I have discovered a collateral benefit to failing eyesight and hearing. I no longer see not hear the stage act of demagogues. Has George Corly Wallace returned with a new target for his venom? Sigh.....
Reasonable people pursue reasonable policies. Unreasonable people incite the mob. Now where did I put my rose colored glasses and my CD of Beethoven's late string quartets?

PJ, have you thought about looking into the CD player for the Beethoven CD ? Always glad to help!

While Lincoln may have been called a RINO in today's Republican Party, George Wallace and his states rights message would undoubtedly be welcome with open arms in the post-Southern Strategy Republican Party.

You're right, of course. The Southern Strategy is alive and widely accepted in the GOP board rooms. Imagine that. In 2010 we've retreated to the Nixonian spirit. Sadly, an assumed progressive nation is still weighing skin color and asking what do we want to be.

Yeah, enforcing immigration laws that are already on the books is totally akin to denying black children an education. Brilliant analysis as always, guys. But why stop there? Where are all the comparisons of Arizona to Nazi Germany that have become so popular among many on the left?

Who are the unreasonable people again???

Calm down, fella. And let me jog your memory:

Wasn't it Newt Gingrich, the presidential Newt, who claimed that the Obama Administration and its partners are as "great a threat to America as Nazi Germany and Soviet Union."?

And Sarah Palin, who said the BP escrow fund was comparable to Adolph Hitler's use of a financial crises to give himself (Obama, of course) "dictatorial powers."

And how about Glenn Beck's photo shop of Obama in a Nazi uniform?

Don't let this discourage you. You are only at the beginning of your learning process.. Meantime, take up your argument with that judge in Arizona.

Reasonable? You mean like Sean Hannity's white supremacist/white nationalist buddy Hal Turner?
