Doesn't either side want to be presidential?

IF YOU HAVE any interest at all in next year's presidential election - and I know that's a stiff challenge -then you can only conclude that:

While the current preposterous Republican job-seekers are doing their damnedest not to win the election next year...

President Obama's repeated concessions to the GOP suggest he is doing his damnedest to lose it.

Will it be a tie?

No, not a tie. The American public will lose no matter who is elected - any GOPer or Obama. The country needs leadership and none of the candidates show it.

Obama has been an incredibly weak president, but the GOPers running for the seat are outright straightjacket material.

I think it's safe to say appeasement of the lunatic fringe is Obama's core strategy.

He also appears to be very content to be in a scoreless tie at the half. He's working hard to win 2-0 hoping the Republicans fumble in the end zone again.

Mencken -
Is that's what called a "margin of safety"?

I guess you think Obama can recover. I'm not sure. He seems to punt on third down quite a bit; this makes me think he lacks a winning playbook. But if the GOP continues to toss "Hail Mary" passes and Obama finds a shifty corner, he may get his hands on the ball again.

Watch enough Cleveland Browns football and you start to thinking this way.
