"It doesn't matter how you sell it to us. It doesn't matter how many celebrities you get. It doesn't matter how many bars open early (He could probably name some.) . It doesn't matter how many beer commercials they run. We don't want the World Cup. We don't like the World Cup. We don't like soccer. We want nothing to do with it..."
There are two problems with Beck's babble. (1)As Media Matters points out, 120 million Americans "did enjoy" the World Cup on TV in 2006. (2)His company has its own soccer outlet: Fox Soccer Channel. I'll leave it at that and simply give him a Grumpy Abe Linguistic Lunacy (GALL) Award.

Let me guess.....if you dislike soccer then you are a racist teabagger, huh?
NPR has an article today essentially saying just that.

:sigh:: And taxpayers are paying for this garbage.
I've seen a number of Reagan84's comments at the ABJ.If I had to put money on it, I'd say Teabagger. And I don't even like soccer.
A few years back a local conservative blogged that Angel Cabrera's close win at the US Open was a snooze and asked why Americans should care about the tournament.
This in spite of the fact that final round ratings were up 36% over the previous year and that a majority of ESPN viewers thought it was one of the best Opens ever.
So what caused this blogger's ennui? Cabrera is from Argentina. Shocking.
