Anyone for "voluntary" diversity?

THANKS TO A reader, we began the day with this winner of the Grumpy Abe Linguistic Lunacy (GALL) Award from the website of Republican congressional candidate George Hutchins, a Tea Partyer in North Carolina's 4th district who wants to impeach President Obama:
"America is a great nation due to our diversity, but ONLY WHEN this diversity is VOLUNTARY" (CAPS not mine!)
A tribute to life on the slow track...

By the way, the 4th District voluntarily went 63% to 36% for Obama.

My favorite part of his site uses the quote," You're either part of the problem or part of the solution", made famous by Black Panther Minister of Information, Eldridge Cleaver. Oh, the irony.

Gaffs such as this have a history that goes back to St. Augustine and maybe before. In his youth, Augustine prayed: "O Lord, grant me chastity, but not right now." His prayer was answered later, much later. So maybe we all need a large serving of chaste diversity or diverse chastity - I can't decide.
