BJ: Selling cars, or political candidates?

DID YOU SEE THE front page of the Beacon Journal today? It couldn't have been more useful for conservative Republican auto-dealer Tom Ganley's congressional campaign had his own people laid out the page. A huge photo of one of his Toyotas with the Ganley trademark license tag quite prominent in brilliant red. The story was about how local auto sales are accelerating. Oh? Since more people look at newspaper photos than read the actual article, this one was - how can we say it? - at least subliminal. (By the way, Ganley is running against U.S. Rep Betty Sutton, a Democrat, in the 13th congressional District.)

I thought the same thing when I saw the picture. Will they be required then to give equal time?

Good question. There are a lot of other auto dealers out there who probably cringed when they saw the front page and the inside page. But who can explain the down-and-almost-out BJ today? On the other hand, maybe the other dealers ought to run for congress, too.

Wonder if Ganley will give any credit to the "Cash for Clunkers" program that helped save the auto industry during its darkest hour.

When you are one of the paper's biggest advertisers, Fargo, you don't have to.

And other than complaining Abe, what are you doing to help your former employer? Nothing. Grumpy indeed you old wind bag.

This old windbag buys the paper every day, which is more than I can say about a lot of people these days. But inasmuch as you chose this post for your anonymous comment, I presume that you would have me describe the Ganley photo on Page One as pioneering journalism. Who are you, anyway? C'mon. Be brave.
