In the wake of the dump truck

SOME TRASH THAT fell off the truck while the Romney campaign was spending more than $15 million on ads in Florida:

  • As the GOP's national chairman Reince Priebus continues to wave off his TV comment comparing President Obama to the captain of the ill-fated Italian cruise ship, he effortlessly ascended to first place as the party's Public Idiot #1. Where do Republicans find these silly hit men , anyway?
  • Speaking of waving garbage off, Florida Republican Rep. Allen West insisted he was misunderstood when he shouted to an audience that President Obama, Sen. Harry Reid and Rep. Nancy Pelosi should "get the hell out of America." I'm not sure what there is to misunderstand about those words. If you know, tell me.
  • Haven't we had a enough of the "class warfare" whining from the right? When a party has no class, how can there be warfare over it?

  • When McNewt assures us that he plans to stay in the race until the GOP convention, you have to admire his mad rush to oblivion. As the only talking walrus in captivity, he offers a fresh supply of nonsense everyday. Now that we have become conditioned to it, we will miss him on Doomsday. (A third party McNewt/Cain ticket?)

  • When Fox's Lou Dobbs says the economy is improving, it's improving, folks.

  • Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer, whose crass confrontation with President Obama stretched beyond absurdity, has updated her finger-pointing stunt, writing on her home site: "I was telling him, You have ONE more year. The president needs to be reminded that he is the president of the FEDERAL REPUBLIC and not a KING lording over state governors." As you might expect, Brewer is seeking re-election in her troubled state and what better way to get a photo-op than to jam into the president's face? It's a little surprising that she didn't bring a nasty anti-Obama protestor sign to close the deal with the voters. Jeez!

Congress: The ugly week that still is

WELL, IT'S BEEN AN ugly week for America that will live in infamy for the Republican Party. A government shutdown, which may be hours away as I write this, will further divide the nation to the raw between the Tea Party/social conservatives and everybody else. And if that hasn't been enough for those hoping that something good may yet occur, the country's biggest egotist, Donald Trump, once again noted that there are many things about the Teabaggers that he likes. He also assured us that if he should decide to run for president he would doubtless be the best candidate for the job and the best president America has ever had . Toto , we're not in Kansas anymore.

Nothing is ever what it seems to be these days. Some observers have noted that Trump's reckless showboating about President Obama's birthplace is merely his way to boost the ratings of his TV show. As one who has fallen into bankruptcy four times,Trump has made a fanciful entry into the birther ranks that represents a fifth bankruptcy, this one a mental collapse into lunacy.

As far as the fight over the Federal budget is concerned, it appears to boil down to an attack on Planned Parenthood and women's health programs, including the end of cancer screening. That seems to be a preposterous way to bring a nation to its knees. But all of those comfortably fed GOP white guys stepping before the cameras to assure gullible Americans that they merely want us to rise triumphantly from deficit are not only lying but also showing little courage to resist the mindless conservative goons who have stripped the House of Representatives from Speaker John Boehner. They are hopeful of pleasing their masters (including the Koch brothers) with servility and dedication to a plantation society.

The Martians have landed on Capitol Hill and we're quickly learning that they are a ruthless bunch of otherworld creatures for which we have found no means as yet to return them to their original planet. They are loaded with cash and insist that God is on their side. At least, for now.

Last night, I withdrew from their scandalous world to listen to the late Luciano Pavarotti on YouTube. He was a remarkable artist whose restorative gifts will be around long after the Capitol Hill mob moves on. It's a reminder that unlike those Martians up on Hill, not all human beings are our enemies

Be patient, Issa says. You may win the lottery someday

IF YOU ARE serious about finding a reason to support the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy, you might want to consider as good a reason as any from Rep. Darrell Issa, a fringe Republican from California. Rising to the challenge in the Fox News Echo Class, Issa said that it would be important to any of us if we happened to win a lottery. Said Issa: "One of the things that you lose in the debate is most people don't make over a quarter million dollars a year. But a great many people once in their lifetime will sort of win the lottery." Cool. Tell me when it's my turn.

Issa, who made a fortune in the auto security business, is the richest man in Congress with a piggy bank of $250 million. According the ThinkProgress, if the GOP takes over the House of Representatives, he would be chairman of the Oversight and Government Reform Committee. His early agenda would include investigations of the U.S. Post Office Department and ACORN, despite the fact that the community organizing operation has already been scrutinized inside out on a bipartisan basis. He will also be raising more questions about President's Obama's birth, reports ThinkProgress, as well as whether his parents were ever married. All of this has the the makings of still another Republican presidential candidate. Although he represents a very conservative district that includes part of San Diego, he actually was born in Cleveland (I haven't seen his birth certificate) and attended the Kent State University Stark campus for awhile. He's s rich, kooky pol but the kind of guy who will make his party proud even though very few of us will ever hold that big winning lottery ticket.
